Garfield Slowly in Auto Accident

Garfield Slowly
Jockey Club waiter Garfield Slowly was seriously injured, his wife, Joan, received a broken leg, and their eight-year old son was killed in an automobile accident in Jamaica in early November.

Mr. Slowly, a waiter at the Grand Hotel restaurant for approximately 15 years, has come out of a two-week coma, although he suffered a stroke, is unable to speak, and is partially paralyzed.

Grand Hotel and the Mackinac Island Community Foundation have established a fund to help the family with medical bills and funeral costs. The Foundation will be working with Ste. Anne's Catholic Church and the family's church in Jamaica to assist them with their financial needs.

Tax-deductible donations marked for the Garfield Slowly Fund, which are tax deductible, can be sent to Mackinac Island Community Foundation, PO Box 1933, Mackinac Island, MI 49757.
