Margaret Knoth

Margaret Knoth
Margaret 'Peg' Knoth of Shelby, the mother of Island resident Cynthia Cawthorne, passed away in Muskegon surrounded by 16 family members Thursday, November 23, at the age of 82.

She was one of seven children born to Meredith and Lillian Mae Field in Shelby, between Ludington and Muskegon, arriving October 12, 1924.

She and William Knoth were married in Hart February 11, 1942, and their reared four children in the Shelby home she grew up in and continued to live in until her death.

Mrs. Knoth was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and knitting and sunshine with her family on the Pentwater shore. Her children remember many happy summers of camping and a family tradition of getting a suntan.

Surviving are a son and his family, Bill and Marilyn Knoth and Jeanne, Brian, Danny, and Dean Ali, Billy Don, Erin, Morgan, and Isabelle Knoth, Jennifer and Peter Henderson, Ben and Shasta Jaehnig, Suzette Jaehnig; three daughters and their families, Kathy and Roger Green and Lori, Mark, Lorin, Zach, Chad, and Trey Zelinski, Melissa, Steve, Kathryn Merissa, Ashleigh, and Jake Cole; Cynthia and Dennis Cawthorne of Mackinac and East Lansing and Brevin and Chase Cawthorne; Beth Buyce and Doug, Charen, and Keryn Buyce and Tracy Heemstra; two sisters, Marlene Schihl and Marjorie Peterson; three sistersin law, Betty Field, Emme Field, and Pat Field, and one brotherin law, Bob Schimke.

Mr. Knoth died in October, 2001. She was also preceded in

death by three brothers, Bob Field, Bill Field, and Ronnie Field; one sister, Marilyn Schimke, and a son-in-law, Dale Buyce.

Services were Sunday, November 26 at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby with Mrs. Knoth's family officiating.

Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, and a luncheon followed at the Stony Lake Yacht Club.
