Sailors Enjoy Challenge, Camaraderie of Race to Mackinac

      When 298 boats left Navy Pier in Chicago July 14 for the 333-mile Race to Mackinac, winds were whipping at more than 15 knots, leading to predictions for a fast race. The winds and predictions of speed diminished, however, as the yachts sailed closer to Mackinac in the 99th annual running of the race.

Budweiser Clydesdales Team Will Visit Island Next Week

      The Budweiser Clydesdales, which have represented the Anheuser-Busch company as a symbol of quality and tradition since 1933, will visit the Mackinac Straits area to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Mackinac Bridge beginning Monday, July 23. They will be featured in the Mackinac Bridge anniversary parade Saturday, July 28, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ignace.
