Fireworks in Straits Area To Mark Bridge's 50th Birthday
      A fireworks display to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Mackinac Bridge will begin at dusk Saturday, July 28, from Windermere Point. The display will coincide with firework displays in St. Ignace and Mackinaw City. A schedule of events marking the weekend celebration can be found on page 5.

      A freighter passes beneath the center span of the Mackinac Bridge Sunday, July 8. Celebration of the bridge's 50th annivesary is being held this weekend in St. Ignace and Mackinaw City. The bridge officially opened in November 1957.

Six-month Moratorium for New Sewer Service Proposed

      A proposed six-month new sewer service moratorium is expected to be discussed when City Council meets Wednesday, August 1, following a Board of Public Works (BPW) recommendation made Friday, July 20.
