      Mackinac Island fudge is known worldwide and it is featured in tours, contests, and special drinks and foods during the 3rd Annual Fudge Festival Friday, August 24, to Sunday, August 26. Mackinac's fudge has been a special tradition since Harry Murdick opened Murdick's Candy Kitchen in the late 1880s.

Jim Marks To Serve as Interim Police Chief

      At a brief Wednesday, August 15, meeting of the Mackinac Island City Council, Officer Jim Marks was designated to be the interim chief of police in mid- September when Chief William Lenaghan leaves the Island, with a plan to appoint him full time to the post if he passes probation.
