Feb. 12 Is Election Filing Deadline for City, School

Two seats are open on both the Mackinac Island City Council and Board of Education for the May 8 election on Mackinac Island. Deadline for candidate filing for either board is 4 p.m. Tuesday, February 13.

On Council, incumbents Armand "Smi" Horn and Dan Wightman's three-year terms are up. Both are running again. Sam Barnwell is also running for a seat on Council.

Paul Wandrie and School Board President Ben Mosley's four-year terms are up. Both men have committed to running again.

As of Wednesday, February 7, two petitions for school board have been picked up but have not yet been submitted, said City Clerk Karen Lennard.
