The grants are awarded twice a year, in the spring and winter, and are based on a spending policy determined by the foundation's income from its endowments. Grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations.

Trinity Episcopal Church was awarded $3,000 to help repair the roof at the rectory, which hosts a number of nondenominational events for youth and adults year-around and for Island employees in the summer. The total cost of the roof replacement is estimated at about $9,000.

The Mayor's Advisory Committee received a $2,000 grant for its flower basket fund. The grant will help the committee purchase and maintain flower baskets on Main Street and Market Street.
