Cemetery Aided by $250 Donation

An anonymous donation of $250 to the Mackinac Island Community Foundation for use of cemetery upkeep and maintenance will be used to purchase topsoil in the fall, the Cemetery Board decided at a meeting Thursday, June 14. Board members will also come up with a formal title for Robert Cheeseman, the longtime cemetery attendant.

City Alderman Armand "Smi" Horn was elected chairman of the board, and Clayton Timmons was elected vice chairman. Other members are Candace Smith, Dale Gallagher, and Kathi Wightman.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, July 17.
