Horsemanship Will Be Focus of Juy 18 Educational Program

Residents and visitors can learn about various horse breeds in a free educational program sponsored by the Mackinac Island Horsemen's Association Wednesday, July 18.

The "Horse of a Different Color, Horse of a Different Breed" program will be held at Turtle Park from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., said Candi Dunnigan, association president.

"The idea is horse education," said Mrs. Dunnigan.

The program is expected to draw 12 to 15 horses and their owners, who will walk, ride, or drive their animals in the riding ring and talk about the breed of the horse, the breed's history, characteristics, and the preferred uses of the breed. Avariety of breeds, from ponies to work horses, are expected.

Arain date is Thursday, July 19.
