Wawashkamo Hosts Three-day Tournament

A three-day men's member and guest golfing tournament was held at Wawashkamo Golf Course June 21 through the 23, which drew 32 golfers. Play began Thursday with a practice round and a cocktail reception at The Island House. Friday the two-man teams played a Best Ball with handicap event. Agolf scramble was held Saturday.

The event included winners from two flights. First flight winners with a two-day score of play at 129 were member Doug Rearick and guest Mike Konicki.

With a score of 132.6 were second place winners member Rusty Preston and guest Troy Dean.

Coming in third with a score of 133.1 were member Ron Morden and guest Sean Preston.

Winning the second flight with a score of 135 were member Bob Andress and guest Orv Reid.

Second place went to member Russ Sager and guest Chuck Schafer with a score of 135.7

Third place was won by member Larry Berke and guest Mike Bartlett with a score of 139.3.

Other games on the course included Friday's play with closest to the pin at the fourth hole, which was won by member David Levy and guest Sean Preston. Closest to the pin on the 17th hole was won by club member Todd Callewaert and guest David Ledbetter.

The longest putt on the ninth hole by a member or guest was won by member Cub Horn.

Saturday games included closest to the pin at the fourth hole, which was won by member Rusty Preston and guest Mike Bartlett. Closest to the pin on the 17th hole was won by Mr. Levy and Mr. Preston.

The longest putt on the ninth hole by a member or guest was won by Mr. Bartlett.

The event was followed by an awards banquet at Stonecliffe.
