Mother and Daughter Enoy Island Visit

Bonnie Kottemann and her daughter, Shelby, made their second 700-mile trip to Mackinac Island this year. From Lincoln, Illinois, the pair spent a year planning their Island adventures. "Coming to the Island is like being in a different world," said Miss Kottemann Monday, July 9. They began their trips to Mackinac three years ago, staying one night the first trip, then two nights, followed by three nights, and this time they will be at the Main Street Inn for five nights. "It's like you can't get enough of it," said Mrs. Kottemann of the Island. On this visit they plan to walk everywhere, except for a private carriage tour and Shelby's horseback riding. Mr. Kottemann, a family physician, is backpacking in the western Upper Peninsula. The family also belongs to the Hiawatha Sportman's Club in Engadine, west of St. Ignace.
