Keary O'Connor Is Serving as Island Resident Physician

Dr. Keary O'Connor began her two-week rotation residency at the Mackinac Island Medical Center July 15, but she already was familiar with Mackinac life, as she has visited with her family here often during the summers. When she was 18, she worked at the Murray Hotel, Inn on Mackinac, and the Village Inn.

"I love the Island," she said. "I love just the nature, the beauty of the Island."

She was born in Missouri and reared in Jackson, and attended Calvin College and Albion College in Michigan before returning to Missouri for her medical training.

Dr. O'Connor has one year left in a family residency at Metro Health Hospital in Grand Rapids. Her goals at the Mackinac Island Medical Center include being involved in as many processes as she can and learning more for her future in medicine.

Her two-week residency will end July 29.
