Twilight Hike Will Be August 18

Mackinac State Historic Parks will offer a guided tour of Historic Mill Creek near Mackinaw City Saturday, August 18, from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Park naturalist Jeff Dykehouse will lead the walking tour from the Visitors Center on the newly resurfaced trail system that follows Mill Creek from the reconstructed water-powered sawmill, past the millpond, and continues upstream along the top of the ravine. Mr. Dykehouse will introduce participants to some of the woodland's smallest, biggest, oldest, newest, prettiest, and strangest flora and fauna.

Space is limited to the first 50 participants to register. Reservations can be made by calling Mackinac State Historic Parks at (906) 847-3328. The tour is $15 for families, $5 for adults, $3 for youths ages 6 to 17, and children 5 and younger are free.

Participants are encouraged to bring cameras, binoculars, water bottles, a flashlight, and comfortable walking shoes for this one- to two-mile evening hike.
