Stuck, Sheppard Top Golfers in Battle Day Tournament The Battle Day Tournament at Wawashkamo Golf Club drew 48 players Saturday, August 4, with two teams tied for first, settled with an extra hole of competiton. Ultimately taking first were Randy Stuck and David Sheppard, who each won $110 with a score of 68. Taking second were Larry Berke and Brian Lents, each taking home $80. Third place with a score of 69 and a second tie for the seating were Al Arbib and John Manikoff, each winning $55. The tie was broken during a second hole playoff, which put Justin Lents and Russ Sager in fourth place. They took home $35 each. A callaway flight match was won by Bret Horn and Bobby Horn with a score of 69. The two earned $80 for their victory. In second place with a score of 71 was won by both Rusty Preston and Grandpa Preston. Each won $60. Third place was Clay Fuller and Lou Bunker also with a score of 71. Both men received $40 each. The ladies callaway flight was won by the team of Martha Cousino and Kay Berke, who each were awarded $46. The team of Lin Sheppard and Michelle Stuck with a score of 72, won took first place in the ladies flight division. The pair each received $70 for their efforts. Games on the course for men included closest to pin. The fourth hole was won by Fritz George, the 17th hole was won by Rusty Preston, and closest to the pin in three shots on the fifth hole was the team of Bob Andress and Cub Horn. Closest to the pin in three shots on the first hole was the team of Justin Lents and Russ Sager. Closest to the pin for women on the seventh hole was Debra Orr. On the 17th hole, Kay Berke was the closest to the pin. The team of Lin Sheppard and Michelle Stuck won closest to the pin in three shots on the ninth hole, while on the tenth hole coming in closest in three shots was Debra Orr and Sandra Orr. Winners of games on the course each took home $35. In the Men's open flight round, the first place team of Gary Cousino and Dave Ward earned $140 each with a score of 64.2. Callaway winners were the team of David Levy and Rick Quinton with a score of 65. The men each won $76. |
