Pizzarelli, Freelon Return for Jazz Festival Aug. 31-Sept. 2

John Pizzarelli and T.S. Monk headline Grand Hotel's Labor Day Weekend Jazz Festival this year, with events beginning Friday, August 31, and running through Sunday, September 2.

Mr. Pizzarelli, with special guest jazz singer Jessica Molaskey will be featured at the Saturday cookout and concert in the Tea Garden, while drummer, vocalist, and band leader T.S. Monk will play with special guest, Rachael Price and the Easy Street Jazz Band Sunday afternoon.

Evening concerts by returning singer Nnenna Freelon be held in the hotel theatre Friday and Saturday.

The Sunday morning Gospel Sing on the front porch will feature the Choir Academy of Chicago, which is returning for its third year, and music director and alto saxophone player Alex Graham will be on stage with jazz musicians throughout the weekend.

Radio personality Paul Anthony will continue his armchair interviews with the performers this year, meeting with Mr. Pizzarelli and Ms. Molasky Saturday morning and with T. S. Monk on Sunday.

Tickets are $65 for each of the Tea Garden performances, and include a buffet luncheon. The evening concerts are free, with proper attire, and Paul Anthony interviews are also free.
