School Board, Teachers Reach Contract Agreement

      With the new school year less than two weeks away, a contract agreement was reached between Mackinac Island school teachers and the school board that calls for a 4% retroactive pay increase for last year and a 2.7% salary hike for the 2007-2008 school year.

      Debris suspected to be from a missing plane was found washed ashore just east of Cheboygan Monday, August 27. The small, singleengine plane with two people on board left Mackinac Island Airport Friday afternoon, August 24, enroute to Bad Axe, although the plane never reached its destination.
