Military Reenactors To Visit Fort

Lin Sheppard, Lou Bunker Named Champions in Wawashkamo Golf
      For the second year in a row, Lin Sheppard won the Wawashkamo Club Womens Championship. The 2007 Mens Championship was won by Lou Bunker. For the event, which was held September 1 and 2, Mrs. Sheppard shot an 87 on Saturday and an 85 on Sunday, for a two-day total of 172. Mr.

Challenge Crew Wins Island Labor Day Regatta
      Vern May of Charlevoix and Chuck Thompson of Midland crewed Challenge, a Dynas 23 sailboat, to win the 2007 Horn's Bar Labor Day Regatta Monday, September 3. Seven boats participated in the race in near-perfect sailing conditions, said Race Coordinator David Rowe.

      Owen Morse Jim and Urvana Morse of Mackinac Island announce the birth of their son, Owen Benjamin Morse, born Saturday, August 18, 2007, at Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey. He weighed 8 pounds, 14 ounces, and measured 21 inches in length at birth.

Town Crier Moves to Fall, Winter Schedule
      The September 8 edition marks the end of the 2007 Mackinac Island Town Crier's weekly publication schedule. The next issue will be Saturday, October 6, followed by the mid-December edition. Winter issues will be published in February and April, with weekly publication resuming in mid-May.

Former Mackinac Bridge and Island Worker Makes Visit
      Jim Sheehan of southern California visited family and friends on Mackinac Island in July. He was a carriage driver for Grand Hotel, worked for Mackinac Island Carriage Tours, Horn's Bar, and the Mackinac Island Police Department in the 1940s. In 1948, Mr. Sheehan won a Golden Gloves title.
