Lin Sheppard, Lou Bunker Named Champions in Wawashkamo Golf
For the event, which was held September 1 and 2, Mrs. Sheppard shot an 87 on Saturday and an 85 on Sunday, for a two-day total of 172. Mr. Bunker had a score of 75 on Saturday and was one under par at 71 on Sunday, for a twoday total of 146. As champion, Mr. Bunker received a trophy and a $55 certificate. David Levy came in second in the Mens Gross Division with 73 and 85, for a two-day score of 158. He received a $40 certificate. Third place winner was Randy Stuck with 82 and 82 for a total of 164. He was awarded a $30 certificate. The Mens Low Net Division was won by Al Arbib with 70 and 69, for a two-day total of 139. He received a $55 certificate. Cub Horn was the runner up with 71 and 73, for a total of 144, winning a $40 certificate. Next up was Gary Cousino with 74 and 71, for a total of 145, winning a $30 certificate. Saturday games included closest to the fourth pin, won by Rusty Preston, who received lunch for two at Mary's Bistro. David Levy made longest put on number five, winning lunch for two at Goodfellows. On Sunday, closest to pin number 13 and pin number 17 were both won by Lou Bunker. He received two Mackinac sweatshirts from Edwards Gifts. The longest putt on the 18th hole was John Keogh, who won lunch for two at Seabiscuit. For her win in the Womens Gross Division, Lin Sheppard received a trophy and $45 gift certificate to be used at the club. Coming in second was Syndee Borst with 87 and 96, for a two-day total of 183. She received a $30 certificate. Martha Cousin took third with a 95 and 92, for a total of 187, and won a $25 certificate. Winning the Womens Low Net Division with a score of 62 and 71 for a two-day total of 133 was Sue Chambers, who received a $45 certificate. Taking second place was Debra Orr with a 67 and 73 for a two-day total of 140. She received a $30 certificate. Games on the course for women on Saturday included closest to pin number 8, won by Debra Orr. She received lunch for two at the Ice House. Closest to the pin on the 16th hole and making the longest putt on the ninth hole was Lin Sheppard, who won dinner for two at the Yankee Rebel Tavern. On Sunday, Sue Chambers won the longest putt on the 18th hole and received lunch for two at Horn's Gaslight Bar. |
