Rearick, Orr Take Match Play Championship

Doug Rearick and Debra Orr won their respective divisions in the 2007 Match Play at Wawashkamo Golf Club.

In the 16-player Men's Match Play, Mr. Rearick, who received a trophy and a $70 club gift certificate, took the season of play with a 3-2 lead over Bob Andress, who was awarded a $55 certificate.

Two semi-finalists, Tom Largo and Lou Bunker, each received a $45 certificate. The first round losers went into a Consolation Flight won by Cub Horn, who defeated Al Arbib. Mr. Horn won a $55 certificate and Mr. Arbib received a $40 certificate. Other semi-finalists were Billy Borst and John Keogh, who each earned a $30 certificate.

Eight women competed for the Ladies Match Play 2007 Club Championship, with Debra Orr defeating her sister, Sandra Orr, for the top title. She received a $55 certificate and a trophy. As the runner up, Sandra Orr earned a $40 certificate.

The first round losers played in the consolation flight, won by Martha Cousino, who received a $35 certificate. She defeated Lin Sheppard, who won a $25 certificate.

Lou Bunker and Steve Rilenge won the men's division of the Fall Scramble at Wawashkamo, and Brenda Bunker and Jennifer Bloswick took the top seat in the women's division.

The Saturday, September 22, event drew 28 golfers and closed out the season of play on the course that was founded in 1898.

Mr. Bunker and Mr. Rilenge had a score of 67 and each won $85. With a score of 78, Mrs. Bloswick and Ms. Bunker each received $70.

Coming in second in the men's division were Gary Cousino and Ron Dufina, with a score of 69. They each earned $75. Following in third place, with a score of 70, were Randy Stuck and Ron Steensma. They each took home $65. Placing fourth and winning $55 each were Gary Cousino and Todd Callewaert, with a score of 71.

Taking second place in the women's competition with a score of 81 were Martha Cousino and Kay Berke. They each won $58.

Games on the course for men included closest to the pin on the fourth hole, won by Randy Stuck. Steve Rilenge took closest to the pin on the 17th hole. For women, closest to the pin on the eighth hole and the 13th hole was Brenda Bunker. Jewell Geyer had the longest putt on the 18th hole.
