Reports from the Mackinac Island Police Department from July 16 to July 22:

Three men and two women were verbally warned by police after trespassing on hotel property at 2:36 a.m. Thursday, July 17. The men were swimming naked when the two women took their clothes, but were caught by police for being on hotel grounds when they were not registered guests. When police investigated further, they found the three men. The hotel's night manager did not wish to press charges.

Doors were found open and unlocked at night at an information booth in Marquette Park Wednesday, July 16, and a clothing store Friday, July 18. Nothing was damaged or taken from either building, but police urge business owners and employees to double-check their locks before closing for the night.

A laptop computer belonging to a visiting university group was reported missing in a hotel at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, July 19.

A wedding gift was found in a box on Main Street next to the Mackinac Island Marina at 1:45 p.m., Sunday July 20. The card gave the name of the couple, but no weddings or parties were reserved in their name. The gift was placed with a hotel wedding planner in hopes of finding its owner.

A customer and bicycle shop employee entered a dispute regarding payment for a dented back wheel Wednesday, July 16. The customer said the dent was there when he rented the bike but the employee disagreed. The customer later agreed to pay for damages.

Police reported 17 bicycle larcenies, one bike accident, cited one minor for illegal possession of alcohol, responded to one false fire alarm, and assisted local emergency response teams nine times.
