Police Reports

The following reports are from the Mackinac Island Police Department from July 29 to August 5:

Two 13-year-old girls shoplifted a bracelet and earrings from a Market Street gift shop at 4:47 p.m. Saturday, August 2. The shop owner agreed to allow the girls to pay $100 for each stolen item in lieu of pressing charges.

Police responded to a family dispute over the payment of rent at 9:50 a.m. Thursday, July 31. The fighting couple was advised to seek legal counsel, as police deemed the argument a civil matter.

A woman reported an incident in Marquette Park at 2 p.m. Monday, August 4, in which a man approached her 17-month-old child and touched his face. When the woman took her son's hand, the man said that the child had grass on his face, and then left. The mother said she felt the situation was suspicious and wanted to report it.

A pen worth $3.99 was stolen from a Main Street gift shop at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 2.

Police verbally warned a woman after they received a complaint about screaming and use of vulgar language while she was talking on a cell phone by the Mackinac Island Marina at 8:16 p.m.

Police reported 36 bicycle larcenies, two bicycle accidents, cited three minors for illegal possession of alcohol, responded to four noise disturbances, and assisted local emergency response teams four times.
