Charity Softball Game Raises $900 for Scholarship Fund

      For the "Guns" of Mackinac Island Police Department, the sweet taste of victory will have to wait yet another year, as the softball team lost a heartbreaker, its sixth in a row, to its rival, the Hoses of the Fire Department. The score was 14-13 during the seventh annual charity softball game at Great Turtle Park Sunday, August 17.

      Wawashkamo Golf Club is hosting a nine-hole golf tournament to raise money for the operation of Ste. Anne's Catholic Church on Mackinac Island Thursday, September 4. The tournament begins at 1:30 p.m and registration is $75 per person.

Predhomme To Perform This Week
      Michigan singer and songwriter Angela Predhomme will be performing solo at Mission Point Resort, nightly from Thursday, August 28, through Saturday, August 30. Admission is free for performances at Mission Point's on-site restaurants. Thursday's performance is from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Round Island Grille, and Friday's and Saturday's performances are from 5 p.m.

Wawashkamo Golf Results
      Wawashkamo Golf Club hosted a member mixed tournament Wednesday, August 6, which saw 44 players participate in a four-person scramble. The team of Troy Dean, Bob Andress, Sara Sutherland, and Cammie Hart took first place with a score of 28. Finishing second with a score of 30 were Justin Lents, Terry Rayment, Martha Cousino, and Carole Erbel.
