Billed officially as "Daddy I Want the Golden Ticket and I Want it Now!," the contest is modeled after the one in the film, "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory." The five customers who found Golden Tickets in their fudge boxes, along with one raffle winner, won vacation packages for a future visit to Mackinac Island.

The winners from the fudge shops are: Madelyn Walker of Warren, at Joann's Fudge; Andrea Carolus of Winnetka, Illinois, at Ryba's; Christopher Held of Kewaskum, Wisconsin, at Murdick's; Sandra Taylor of Manistee, at the Murray Hotel Fudge Shop; Ben Taylor of Charlevoix, at May's.

Mackinac Island Tourism Bureau organized the Fudge Festival.

Seven Mackinac photographers displayed their art at Windermere Point for the new Fudge Festival feature Art in the Park Saturday, August 23. Tourism Bureau Director Mary Slevin described the event as an "outdoor exhibition where visitors could enjoy viewing great photographs without feeling the pressure to buy."
