Formally dressed, horses spotlessly groomed, 15 riders made the annual farewell ride from East Bluff to West Saturday, August 30, the traditional end of the cottagers' 2008 riding season.

Meeting at Donnybrook Cottage on the East Bluff about 9 a.m., the riders partook of a stirrup cup, a beverage consumed while mounted in saddle, then made their way along trails and roads for one more look at the Island woods.

On the West Bluff, they rode through the Annex and made their way to the cottage of Penny and John Barr, where they received more refreshments, then down to the cottage of Lornie and Bill Porter for cookies before a last ride in front of Grand Hotel.
