Island Legion Post Plans Patriot Day Service for September 11

Police, firemen, ambulance crews, and members of American Legion Post 299 will honor those lost in the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks at a 6 p.m. ceremony on Patriot Day Thursday, September 11, at Community Hall on Market Street.

Commercial airliner attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and one thwarted attack that forced an airplane to crash near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, left 2,973 people dead.
