Winter Vacation on Island Is Special
To the Editor:

Thank you, Mackinac Island, for the fond memories spent on the Island over the New Year. I have spent many summer vacations at Grand Hotel, but never in the winter. My husband surprised me with a Christmas present at Mission Point. It was everything I ever dreamed, right down to hearing about the Christmas tree on Main Street. We were in awe to see the snowmobiles picking up families and piles of luggage at the dock that replaces most of the horses. We lost our luggage off our sled twice on the way to Mission Point, only to stand in the road and laugh and tell each other we should have had a practice run. Our hosts at Mission Point made our stay pleasant. We did a lot of walking around on the Island everyday, only to see the breathtaking sights. We thought it was so peaceful. We also enjoyed visiting Islanders Sue and Bruce Miller, who shared a snowmobile ride and fireplace. We will be back.
