Mackinac Island Arts Council is holding a contest for artists and aspiring artists to help create pages for a new Island-themed coloring book. Artists whose work is chosen for the book will receive a complimentary copy of the completed book. Entries must be postmarked by March 30.

Artwork submitted must be drawn on an 8.5-inch by 11- inch, high-quality white paper. Artwork should be black and white line art featuring an Island theme. Style must be appropriate and interesting for preschool age and school-age children and suitable for coloring with crayons. There should be open shapes for different colors and solid lines to provide color boundaries. Artists can provide a caption.

Entries should include a short biography of the artist.

A panel of judges that includes Arts Council board members, Island artists, and Mackinac Island Public School children will select the winning artwork.

The coloring book will be sold at area retail shops. Money raised from its sale will help fund council programs including this summer's "Drop In Draw" and the annual "Music in the School" program.

The council will retain all rights for the art selected for the book.

Entries are non-returnable and should be sent flat or rolled. Folded entries will be considered. Send submissions to the Mackinac Arts council, P.O. Box 1834, Mackinac Island, MI 49757.
