Rilenge, Bean Earn Top Spelling Spots

Adrienne Rilenge, a sixth grade student at Mackinac Island Public School, and Hailey Bean, in grade seven, were among eight winners at a district spelling bee that took place at the St. Ignace Middle School February 7. Top spellers from four middle schools in St. Ignace, Mackinac Island, Gros Cap and Engadine gathered for the competition, and Miss Rilenge and Miss Bean were among those to advance to a regional bee February 21 at Sault Ste. Marie.

Other spelling bee participants from Mackinac Island, who had bested competitors at their grade level in their own school to enter the district bee, were Anthony Rickley, Dillon Deloof, Paul Wandrie, Meadow Greenlee, and Kyra Kolatski.
