Author Louise Penny To Speak at Island Library

Crime fiction writer Louise Penny will discuss her mysteries at the Mackinac Island Public Library Friday, August 22, at 4 p.m.

Ms. Penny, formerly an award-winning journalist with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, left her career in journalism to write crime fiction, starting with her first Three Pines mystery, "Still Life." The book won numerous awards in both Canada and the United States, including the Arthur Ellis award from the Crime Writers of Canada and the Dilys Award from the Independent Mystery Booksellers Association, as the book its members most enjoyed selling.

Ms. Penny's other works include "A Fatal Grace" and "The Cruelest Month." She currently resides in a village south of Montreal with her husband, Michael, and three golden retrievers.
