Bynoe Hockey Tournament Planned

The inaugural Jamie Bynoe Summer Street Hockey Tournament will be Sunday, September 7, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Market Street near the Stuart House museum.

Anyone can play and there is no admission fee, said tournament coordinator Chris West.

Players will wear shoes and should bring their own stick and safety equipment. Games will be played with a tennis ball.

"We're going to try and get an Island team and a St. Ignace team together to play each other. It should be fun," said Mr. West.

The event is named for local resident Jamie Bynoe, an avid hockey fan, who held a similar event on the Island last winter on Main Street. It brought together many community members, which he hopes this event will also do.
