Gap Opens in Secondary Ice Trail to Mainland

A large gap opened Sunday, February 8, across the beeline, an ice trail that veers from the ice bridge and runs to the boardwalk near the school. Christmas trees and yellow tape now ward off unsuspecting travelers. The main ice bridge, which intersects the Island at the old ski hill below Stonecliffe, is still in use, despite warm temperatures and rain the week of February 9. Traveling over the ice is not sanctioned and is undertaken at people's own risk.
