Reports from the Mackinac Island Police Department, between May 5 and May 12:

A Main Street business was issued its second citation in two years for violating the city's fire protection ordinance for hanging sales products on its front door Thursday, May 7. The officer reported the owner was warned several times before he was issued a citation. The fine is $210 for a second offense.

A 29-year-old The Colony, Texas, man, a hotel employee, was escorted to the police department and assessed a fine for urinating in public at 1:50 a.m. Saturday, May 9. The man was spotted by police in an alley between two businesses on Astor Street. The fine is $110.

For the week, six bicycle larcenies were reported, as well as one false alarm, and six assists with local emergency response units.
