Joseph Gugin

Joseph Gugin Joseph Gugin Joseph Todd Gugin, 33, of Mackinac Island, died at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey Saturday, April 25, 2009.

He was born in Petoskey to Sandra and Stanley Gugin September 26, 1975.

He was a member of the Mackinac Island Fire Department and its water rescue unit and was a member of Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.

Mr. Gugin was a construction worker on the Island and in 2006, he began his own company with Ben Horn of Mackinac Island called J&E Construction.

He is survived by his father; two sons, Donavin and Jameson; his fiancée, Wendy Nicewander; a stepson, David; a sister, Darlene Gugin of St. Ignace; three brothers, Stanley Gugin, Terry Gugin, and Jake Gallagher, all of Mackinac Island; four nieces, and two nephews.

Mr. Gugin was preceded in death by his mother.

Visitation was from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, at Dodson Funeral Home in St. Ignace. The funeral was at noon Friday, May 1, at Ste. Anne's Catholic Church on Mackinac Island, with Father Rey Garcia as celebrant.
