Gamble, Bunker Earn Medalist Honors At EUPC Golf Match

Gamble shot a nine hole score of one over par 35, one stroke better than Taylor Smith of Cedarville at 36, and Bunker recorded a 48, two shots ahead of Jessica Duncan of Cedarville, with a 50.

The Brimley Bays won the boys title with a four-player score of 171 to edge out the Cedarville Trojans with 174, followed by the DeTour Raiders at 181, Mackinac Island Lakers 189, Pickford Panthers 196, and Engadine Eagles 208.

Individual Scoring

Bays: Justin Lawson 37, Jereme Daniels 42, Kyle Waters and Christian Reattoir, 46.

Trojans: Taylor Smith, 36, Andrew Jaroche 43, Michael Causley 44, and C.J. Paquin 51.

Raiders: Josh Wilson 44, Zach Melvin and Tyler Anderson 45, and Ian Burton 47.

The Cedarville Trojans captured the girls match with a 239, while the Mackinac Island Lakers and DeTour Raiders tied for second at 246, followed by Engadine Eagles with 260, and Brimley Bays with 297. The Pickford Panthers failed to produce a team score, owing to having just three golfers.

Lakers: Marie Bunker 48, Maggie Chambers 59, Michi Mullings 69, and Holly Leedke 70.

Two Mackinac Island Track Records Fall During 2009 Season

The Mackinac Island Lakers track team is off to a good start, as two school records have fallen during the 2009 season. The boys 400-meter relay team of Robert Chambers, Michael Gamble, Tyler McLean, and Collin Armstrong set a new mark with a time of 50.8, breaking the mark of 56.9, and Shelbie Mosley established a new shot put record with a toss of 26' 2.5" that was originally held by Sarah Wessel at 25'4".

Robert Chambers competes in the long jump, relays, and sprints; Michael Gamble in the relays, shot put, and discus throw; Tyler McLean in the relays and dashes; Collin Armstrong in the relays and distance events; Tyler Joseph in the sprints; Zhane Nash in the sprints; Morgan Brodeur-Bunker in the middle distance; Shelbie Mosley in the shot put and discus; Hailey Bean in the shot put and discus; Shay Mosley in the middle distance and sprints, and Michi Mullings in the long jump and sprints.
