History Hunt Leads All Around Island

For eighth grade students from West Michigan Academy of Arts and Academics in Spring Lake, their two-day Island adventures included a scavenger hunt about local facts. The activity is offered by Mission Point Resort, where the 40 classmates stayed. This group of five students and their chaperone, Rodney Beaver (right), biked along Market Street asking people for directions and trivia answers Friday, May 22. "This place is very educational," said Mr. Beaver. While visiting the Island, the class visited Fort Mackinac, took a carriage ride, and explored on bicycles. During their stay, the students said they learned about Straits history and appreciated the sights of Mackinac Island. "We like the smallness," said Kelsey Gomez (second from right). "I don't like big cities." Also pictured are (from left) Rayna Brown, Brandon LaLone, River Jensen, and Alaina Johnson.
