Island Artists Celebrate 30 Years June 5-6

Scrimshaw artist Gary Kiracofe will demonstrate his craft Friday, June 12, and Saturday, June 13, at his shop, Scrimshanders, in the lobby of Chippewa Hotel. Demonstrations will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.

Mr. Kiracofe and his wife and business partner, Dawn Sandusky, opened Scrimshanders on Mackinac Island in 1979 and the demonstration is in celebration of its 30th anniversary, said store manager Urvana Morse.

The shop sells pieces by Mr. Kiracofe and other works from around the world.
