Golfers Compete in Two Tournaments at Wawashkamo Course

Missing is Ron Dufina. Holding the flag in back is club member Bart Huthwaite. Sixteen men and eight ladies participated in the Member Tournament Saturday, July 18, at Wawashkamo Golf Course. Events played were six holes best ball, six holes scramble, and six holes alternate shot with a handicap.

The closest to the pin for hole number four in the men's division was Al Arbib, and closest to the pin on hole number 17 was Lou Bunker. For women, on hole number seven, closest to the pin was Sandra Orr. Lin Sheppard was closest to the pin on hole number 13.

Closest to the pin in three shots for the men's team on hole number 10 were Gary Cousino and Dave Ward. For the ladies' team, Martha Cousino and Debbie Ward were the closest to the pin in three shots on hole number nine. The longest putt on hole number five for men or women was Billy Borst.

In first place for the men's division was the team of Lou Bunker and Bob Andress with a score of 65.7.

There was a two-way tie for second place with the teams of Gary Cousino and David Ward, and Ron Dufina and Rusty Preston. They both had a score of 66.

In the ladies division, Martha Cousino and Debbie Ward took first place with a score of 64.3. In second place were Syndee Borst and Sue Chambers with a score of 66.2.

Member Mixed Tournament

Thirty-six players participated in the Member Mixed Tournament at Wawashkamo Golf Course Wednesday, July 22. After the tournament, the participants enjoyed a cookout at the club's picnic area.

In first place was the team of Michael Gamble, Kelly Rayment, and Alice Bloswick. The team had a score of 31.

Doug Rearick, Bob Andress, and Sandra Orr came in second place with a score of 32. After a three-way tie for third place with a score of 33, the team of Gary Cousino, Ron Dufina, Brenda Bunker, and Mary Ann Gale won after a tie-breaker.

The team of Rusty Preston, Larry Berke, and Mary Dufina won in the "Whiner Bucks" category.

Al Arbib was closest to the pin for men on hole number four and Michelle Stuck was closest to the pin for women on hole number eight. The team of Al Arbib, Jack Dehring, and Martha Cousino was closest to the pin in three shots on hole number five. The longest putt was made by Doug Rearick on hole number eight.
