Websters Post Bond, City On Hold

A $30,000 surety bond was posted Monday, July 27, by Hubbard's Annex lot owners Sue and Len Webster. Any effort by the city to have the couple follow a court order to clean up the unfinished construction on their lot now is on hold until the case is heard by the Court of Appeals, according to city attorney Tom Evashevski.

At this time, no date has been set by the court to hear the appeal filed by the Websters in November 2008.

A May 31 deadline set by 11th Circuit Court Judge William Carmody requiring the couple to complete their home or remove the unfinished foundation now remains on hold until the Circuit Court rules on the legal fight between the city and the Websters.

Construction of their home began in 1999, although only the foundation was completed. Since then neighbors have voiced concerns over safety of the open foundation. The Websters have since erected a safety fence around their property at the city's request.
