Waggoners Celebrate 20th Anniversary on Island
      Dana and Cathy (nee Beach) Waggoner of Springfield, Ohio, celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary with friends on Mackinac Island September 18 and 19. They were married at Little Stone Church September 16, 1989. The couple met in 1983 while working at Little Bob’s restaurant and have returned for July holidays each year since 1994.

Mark Gallagher Dinner Is Feb. 18
      The ninth annual Mark Gallagher Dinner will be at Mackinac Island Community Hall Thursday, February 18, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event serves as a fundraiser for the Mark Gallagher Scholarship Fund at the Mackinac Island Community Foundation. Volunteer community members are preparing the meal and the foundation's Youth Advisory Council will assist with the event.

      Alice and Clayton Bennett of St. Ignace announce the engagement of their daughter, Linda Bennett, to Tom Pfeiffelmann, of Mackinac Island and St. Ignace. Both Mr. Pfeiffelmann and Ms. Bennett are employed by Star Line Ferry in St. Ignace. The couple are planning a fall wedding in 2010 on Bois Blanc Island.

Annual Chili Cook-off, Poker Rally Is Saturday
      The 17th annual chili cookoff will be Saturday, February 13, at the Village Inn restaurant on Mackinac Island. Participants become judges, voting on their favorite homemade chili dish. Last year's winner was Island dray driver Ray Card.
