Following her death, the project was taken up by her friend and editor, Motoko Huthwaite, and two of her grand-nieces, Ellen Roots McBride and April Roots Prewitt, and, after 10 years, the book was published in January.

"From China with Love" is a family portrait drawn from the love letters of the couple, shared as Bishop Roots traveled through China, Europe, and the United States.
