Horses Played Important Role in Fighting Fires on Mackinac
      If horses could talk, I wonder what those on Mackinac Island could tell me about pulling the Island's pumper wagon and ladder rig, racing to save a burning building in the 1800s? Since they can't, I took it upon myself to make a trip up to the carriage display at Surrey Hills to try to find out. I had a long, slow look at our old pumper, silently standing there.

NEWS ABOUT PEOPLE ON MACKINAC ISLAND
      The weather was picture perfect as the sailboats from the Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac reached the Island. The yachts, in full sail with spinnakers in colors of red, yellow, blue, green, and white, were an awesome sight as they cruised across the finish line by the Old Round Island Lighthouse.
