Urges All To Attend June 14 Historic Presentation

To the Editor:

This letter is to all who call Mackinac Island “home.”

For the last year, I have worked on the steps necessary to create a historic district in the town area of Mackinac Island; as it turns out, two were proposed. As in all other places where this is undertaken, there are at least two sides - the pros and cons - and Mackinac is no different. While I personally think that the pros far outweigh the cons, others may differ. So, I am urging all of you to go to the Rypkema presentation Tues- day, June 14, at 6 p.m. to learn what historic districts will mean for Mackinac, then decide for yourself what you want for the future of our Island. Everyone’s input is vitally important; and hopefully our wishes will be heard by our elected officials at the hearing on the following night, June 15 at 6 p.m.

This may be the single most important decision the council makes this decade; indeed, this century!
