Vera Bradley Uses Mackinac Island as Backdrop for Spring 2012 Catalog

(Photograph by Bob Benjamin) Keen observers may have noticed a camera crew and models with new Vera Bradley merchandise posing at several sites on Mackinac Island during the week of Sunday, July 31 through Sunday, August 7. The photographs will be used to promote the company’s spring 2012 collection.
Shoot producer Courtney Wagner said she and the crew did their best to be as inconspicuous as possible during their first photo shoot on Mackinac Island. Ms. Wagner and creative director Sabra Garner from Britton Marketing and Design Group in Fort Wayne, Indiana, scouted the area in early June for possible locations for the shoot.
“We got some great images up there,” Ms. Wagner said. “Everyone was so welcoming there and very accommodating.”
The catalog, which is expected to be released in January 2012, will be entirely of the Mackinac Island settings. Ms. Wagner said the crew traveled all over the Island, including Grand Hotel for a mock wedding, Main Street, Dan Musser’s boat, the Arnold Ferry Line Docks, Mimi Cunningham’s home, and the Musser home.
Because they had so much camera equipment, she and the crew took great care not to startle the horses, she said.
“We tried to do what we needed to do and get what we needed to get without being intrusive,” Ms. Wagner said.
Merchandise used in the photos includes handbags and accessories for the collection. The catalog is used for all marketing materials, including catalog, print, Web site, and social media.
