Arts Dockside Offers 90 Vendors at St. Ignace Marina This Weekend

This year’s Arts Dockside will feature about 90 vendors. The art fair, which runs 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, September 3, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, September 4, at the St. Ignace Public Marina, will draw artists and artisans from all over the state. Food vendors and musicians will be there, as well. Admission is free.

Dave Black, owner of Mackinac Straits Photo Gallery in St. Ignace, said he loves Arts Dockside and has been coming for 17 years. He wasn’t able to make it last year and is looking forward to coming back this year.

“I love doing that show,” he said.

He said the combination of local residents and tourists in addition to the waterfront location gives the show a pleasant ambiance.

Mr. Black’s photography features local scenes and is mostly film, but he’s beginning to use digital photography as well. He pointed out he doesn’t use dig- ital photo editing software.

“What you see is real, and I pride myself on that,” he said.

The show is good for his business, he said, and for the St. Ignace area.

“I think it’s a good shot in the arm for the whole community here,” he said.

Arts Dockside is organized by the Chamber of Commerce this year.
