Dorothy Irene Lovitt

Dorothy Lovitt Dorothy Lovitt Dorothy Irene Lovitt of Concord passed away suddenly at her home Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at the age of 78.

She was born November 19, 1932, in Jackson to Wayne and Mabel Lucas.

Mrs. Lovitt was retired from teaching at Concord Schools and from bookkeeping. She was a member of the fireman’s auxiliary, was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader for many years, and reared her family in the home she and her husband, Dean, built more than 50 years ago.

She was an avid fan of the Detroit Pistons and Tigers and enjoyed trips to Florida every year with her brother, Pete. She was a long-time reader of both The St. Ignace News and Mackinac Island Town Crier and spent countless summer vacations with family and friends at Small Point Bed and Breakfast on Mackinac Island.

Mrs. Lovitt is survived by three children and their families, Cindy and Joe Seckinger of Concord, Susan Robidoux of Addison, and Doug Lovitt and Jack Sokolowski of Battle Creek; six grandchildren and their families, Jeff Seckinger, Lori Seckinger, Erin and Jeremy Monday, Shayne Robidoux, Sarah and Chris Orrell, and Cody Robidoux; two greatgrandchildren, Ella and Grant Monday; two brothers and their families, Jim and Sue Lucas and Pete and Bonnie Lucas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean; a son, David; a sister, Lillian, and a son-in-law, John.

A celebration of her life was held at Litchfield Congregational Church in Litchfield Monday, August 1, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Michael Murray officiating.
