New Events Offered for Horse Enthusiasts
New events are planned this summer for those interested in horses. A “Tuesday Trot” Tuesday, June 19 will allow horse owners to take a leisurely ride with friends, and Tea Time Thursday, June 21, is enjoyed to give women a chance to meet, relax, and converse.
The Mackinac Horsemen’s Association will host the two events.
The Tuesday Trot is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and participants can gather at the Mackinac Community Equestrian Center with their carriages in tow. Equipment will not be provided. A $5 ticket will cover the costs for snacks and refreshments during the trip. Horsemen’s Association Director Leanne Brodeur said the events are to encourage those with carriages to invite friends out and enjoy a summer evening.
If the new activity is successful, Ms. Brodeur said the association will host a Tuesday Trot every other week.
For Thursday’s Tea Time, ladies who are part of the Horsemen’s Association, as well as women who enjoy horses, can gather at the Mackinac Community Equestrian Center for a social hour starting at 6 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m. If they see enough interest, the association may host the event every other Thursday.
“We’re going to try to do a social event at the stable,” Ms. Brodeur said. “They’re may be some days when we have some horse knowledge events. We talked about doing some yoga that helps improve horseback riding, things like that.”
Ms. Brodeur said the activities are designed for adult riders to gather socially. So far, the association has offered a number of events for children, and they want to offer options for adult riders.
