Lilac Festival Award Winners Announced

Stella King Memorial Award: Brugger’s Other Farm.

Grand Award: Mission Point Resort

Best Parade Theme: Yankee Rebel Tavern and Horn’s Bar

Best Parade Float: Original Butterfly House and Insect World

Best Equestrian: Cindy’s Riding Stable

Best Horse Hitch: Resting Spirit Stables Clydesdale Hitch

Best Lil’ Lilac: Velvet Candy Store and Little Barn Children’s Riding Program

Best Walking Group: Girl Scout Troop #327 of Southeastern Michigan, Grosse Pointe


The Butterfly House and Insect World won Best Float award for the 2012 Grand Parade. The float was decorated with butterflies and gardens with pride for it being the oldest live butterfly exhibit in Michigan. Most Humorous: Scottville Clown Band

Stunt Junkies: Mary’s Bistro Unicycle Riding Chicken

Mike Hart of Mackinac Island won the $5,000 Lilac Festival raffle, Markus Kelly of Inkster won $3,000, and five bartenders at Horn’s will share in the $2,000 third prize, Aimee Neagles, Summer Sahm, and Amy Kudrick each collecting $500, and Aeriel Perczhk and Bryan Belcher sharing $500.
