Nordic Tugboats to Rendezvous in St. Ignace for Annual Event

About 15 Nordic tugboats will gather at the St. Ignace Public Marina this weekend for the seventh annual Nordic Tugboat Rendezvous. Boats began arriving Wednesday, June 20, and will depart Sunday, June 24. On the agenda for the boaters are guest speakers and a trip to the Great Lakes Boat Building School in Cedarville.

While in the area, they can be seen at the St. Ignace marina.

This is the seventh year the tugs have had a rendezvous and the third year in they’ve done so in St. Ignace, said co-organizer Jay Kraft. The show has been in Traverse City and Charlevoix before, and many boaters like the hospitality of St. Ignace, and the Straits provides a relatively central location for boaters coming from all over the Great Lakes, including Chicago, Cleveland, and Wisconsin, Mr. Kraft said.
