Dave ‘Tonto’ Johnson

Dave “Tonto” Johnson, 55, of Mackinac Island, passed away late Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at his home, surrounded by friends and family after a lingering bout with cancer.

He was born October 18, 1956, in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin, to James and Phyllis (nee Plain) Johnson.

Mr. Johnson was graduated from high school and finished two years of higher education before coming to Mackinac Island to work. He has worked for the Mustang Lounge, Chippewa Hotel, Horns Bar, and in construction for Straits Construction, with Matt Porter. He had a landscaping business on the Island at one time. For the past 10 years, Mr. Johnson was the bar manager for the Island House.

He has been on the Island for more than 30 years, where he was a member of the Lions Club and Wawashkamo Golf Club. His favorite pasttime was golf.

He is survived by his parents, James and Phyllis Johnson of Oconto Falls, and a host of friends on Mackinac Island.

Services were Monday, July 9, at 1 p.m. at the Little Stone Church with Reverend Dr. Vince Carroll officiating. Burial was in Ste. Anne’s Cemetery on Mackinac Island.

Pallbearers were Clay Fuller, Todd Callewaert, Les Parrish, Will McGreevy, Andy Mc- Greevy, and Mike Carley.

Dodson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
