Linda Padgett


Linda Padgett Linda Padgett Linda Cooper Padgett, 71, of Northville, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2012, in Dearborn.

She was born July 25, 1941, in Kalamazoo to William and Doris (nee Curkendall) Cooper.

Her parents owned Cooper’s Perfume Shop and the Balsam Shop on Mackinac Island, and she spent her summers growing up on Mackinac Island. After the businesses were sold many years ago, the family owned a condominium in Leslie Court for many years after.

Mrs. Padgett received a bachelor’s degree from Albion College, and was a teacher for many years.

She raised her family in Dearborn. She devoted her time and expertise to many organizations, including Oakwood Hospital Guild, Oakwood Healthcare Foundation, First Step, Dearborn Animal Shelter, Delta Gamma Fraternity, Dearborn Chamber of Commerce, and many others.

Mrs. Padgett loved sports of all kinds, especially the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers. She loved to decorate for the holidays, and enjoyed knitting, gardening, and giving gifts.

She is survived by two sons and their families, Bill and Mary Padgett of Rhinelander, Wisconsin, and Tim and Kristen Padgett of Novi, and four grandchildren, Andy, Ellen, Josh, and Ella.

Services were Saturday, August 11, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Dearborn. Visitation was Friday, August 10, at the Dearborn Chapel of Howe-Peterson Funeral Home.
